The Toronto Maple Leaf hockey team has signed the third round pick in this year’s NHL draft to a two-year entry-level contract for $5,000,000.
The 6-foot-3, 209-pound defender/forward, known as Tommie, has played for the US under-17 team and the US U-18 team.
Tommie joins Dylan Peay, Alex Petrovic, and Dylan Larkin on the roster.
This is Tommies first NHL signing.
For the next few weeks, Tommi will be training at the Toronto Hockey Academy in Mississauga.
In 2017-18, Tammi recorded seven points (two goals, two assists) in 31 games with the US-based Team USA under-18 national team, helping the team qualify for the 2018 World Junior Championships.
With the USHL’s Chicago Wolves, Tompkins played four seasons (2013-14, 2014-15, 2015-16, 2016-17) and registered 57 points (23 goals, 44 assists).
In the American Hockey League (AHL), Tommis junior team was the second-best in the AHL, recording a 26-8-4 record with a plus-9 rating.
Prior to joining the Wolves, he played for Grand Rapids, the Rochester Americans, and the Flint Firebirds of the AHL.
