The Israel Football Association has signed a contract with Qatar Sports to field its national team for the 2022 World Cup, a source close to the talks said.

The source told The Jerusalem Report that the agreement was signed on Friday.

The contract was signed as the teams were due to begin training in Qatar on Sunday.

Qatar will host the 2022 tournament, which will be the largest in the world, and Israel will field a squad of five players.

The country is expected to play two games, against Qatar and Germany, in its first match, with the third match, against Japan, to be played in Qatar, a spokesperson for the Qatari Football Association told Al Jazeera.

Qatari Football said it would not allow Israeli players to join the squad because the country does not recognize Israel.

The team has been training in Israel since June, with a new coach, former Israeli captain, and former Israeli Olympic team captain Yigal Amir, as well as Israeli and Israeli-Israelis, including players from Israel and the Palestinian territories.

The players are expected to start training in the Qalandia Sports Complex in Qatari capital, Doha, on Sunday, the source told Al Jazeerat.

The Qalandaas Sports Complex is a large and modern facility which includes the Qatif Arena, which is the largest indoor football arena in the Arab world, which can seat more than 2,000 people.

The facility hosts international competitions, including the Olympics and the World Cup.

Qatif is the capital of Qatar, home of the 2022 2022 World Cups.
