This is the first in a series of articles about building modular structures using materials that are already available on the market.
We’ll explain how to use concrete, wood, and concrete-coated bricks to build these structures using just concrete and mortar.
You can find the complete series here.
A modular structure consists of three main parts: a structure, a building, and a facade.
A building is comprised of a main structure, two or three lower walls, and an extension to cover the roof.
A facade is a piece of furniture that sits on top of the main structure.
The facade is the part of the building that is not covered by the main building.
This type of building is called a slab.
Al Jazeera’s Alisa Kudzian reports from New York City on the construction of the modular structures.
