A new study finds that the average person sleeps four to five hours less during the day than they used to.
But that doesn’t mean they get a better night’s rest.
That’s because the average sleep cycle, a measure of how long a person sleeps, is now slightly less than half the length of their sleep cycles of previous generations, according to a new study by researchers at the University of Colorado Boulder.
Researchers say the reason for this change is that there are more people sleeping less during their sleep cycle now.
The study, published in the Journal of Sleep Research, analyzed data from more than 100,000 people across the U.S. They found that the sleep cycle has shifted from the last five hours of the day, where people were sleeping six to seven hours a night, to the last two hours of their night, where the average duration of sleep was 11.7 hours.
But what this study did not show was that this shift in sleep patterns occurred due to a decrease in sleep quality or a decrease of sleep quantity.
Instead, researchers found that there was a clear and dramatic shift in the sleep cycles, a shift that occurred over the last four to six months.
The shift in patterns is consistent with a growing body of evidence showing that the circadian clock is not only crucial for our health and well-being, but also for our mood and energy levels.
A good night sleep is important to the brain, according the study authors, and sleep is essential for a healthy and happy mind and body.
The researchers say that the new data suggests that the shift in cycles is due to two factors: an increase in nighttime sleep time, which is more productive in the middle of the night, and the development of circadian sleep-wake cycles.
Researchers are now looking at how to better understand how this shift occurs and what might be preventing the shift from occurring.
The findings suggest that sleep deprivation may contribute to many of the conditions that lead to depression, anxiety and obesity.
The research is supported by the National Institutes of Health, the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Aging.
